100 Richest Texans

This was an assignment for Texas Monthly for the annual "100 Richest Texans" issue (1992). The art director from the magazine, D. J. Stout, came up to Buffalo to critique the class' pieces (in fact, he pointed out the fact that the original sketch for my piece included the incorrect type of cactus native to Texas, which I then changed to the prickly pear).

The illustration class itself is documented working on this project in Step-by-Step Graphics (Vol. 8, #5, Sept/Oct 1992).
