Watched Velvet Goldmine last night. Oh so pleasantly surprised, though it was awfully weird to see Ewan MacGregor looking very much like Kurt Cobain. Casting Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (who I realized was Steerpike in Gormenghast!) as the lead was a stroke of genius. It was so difficult to discern the actual 70s music from the music created for the movie. We had a grand time pulling parallels between "Brian Slade / Maxwell Demon" and "David Bowie / Ziggy Stardust". Definitely recommended.
