fell into my lap
I discovered a friend of mine is selling her car because it won't pass the emissions test that Portland requires (but otherwise, it runs fine). She only wants $500, and it's a 1994 Hyundai, which means this will be the first time I've ever had a car that's less than 10 years old. The downside? It's a stick. I've never driven a stick in my life. Yipe.
Many years ago (ok, probably more like 4) we bought a bunch of peel-and-stick tiles on clearance for 75% off at a going out of business sale. Several hours (and many gummy Goo Gone-soaked cottonballs) later, we have a new bathroom floor.
