time loop

Every morning the bus comes at 6:33 am. It's nearly always the same driver but for me, with my nose in a book, it's usually the same drive. If I close my eyes, I can almost tell you exactly where we are by the stops and the turns.

I get off of the bus. There is the woman with the walker. In front of me is the red truck that drops off the disaffected teenager who always seems mortified to be dropped off at the bus station by his dad (?). There goes the guy with curly dark hair lighting up a smoke, taking impossibly long, swift, silent strides, crossing the same patch of station at approximately the same time.

I feel like I'm in a time loop five days a week. If not for the changing date on the computer I wouldn't be sure that it wasn't the same day.

Come to think of it, I did have a time loop moment this weekend. Saturday morning, I was playing the radio while I made breakfast. Bruce Springsteen, Roxette, and some other songs, quips by the DJ, and so on. Sunday morning, I was making breakfast again at about the same time... and all of the same songs were on. I started to get a little weirded out until I heard the DJ make the same reference to it being a lovely Saturday morning and making all of the same corny quips at precisely the same intervals. I guess someone put in the wrong tape for Easter Sunday.
