wow, december already?!
Wah! Where does the time go?
My Thanksgiving weekend was great, save for the actual ground travel from my town to Portland. Massive volume of traffic on the way up caused me to make it to Albany in 2 hours instead of 40 minutes. I nearly missed my plane, and would have in fact missed it if not for the fact that they were delayed in boarding. I got to the gate five minutes before scheduled departure. Whew.
On the way home, a fatal car accident right near where I-5 meets I-205 forced a closure of I-5 in both directions, so my roommate (who'd come with me instead of Greyhound because Greyhound has this thing about birds on the bus) and I bought a map at the Fred Meyers right there and figured out how to get to Route 99. Routes always take longer than freeways because the speed limits are usually lower, the roads slightly more treacherous and curvy and not as well lit, and pass slowly through small towns. All of that coupled with my crappy night vision and it took me almost 5 hours to get home (when it should have taken two and a half).
But I had a lovely time bonding with my niece and my nephews (one more than the other, since one is just a baby). I did things I hadn't done since I was a kid: drawing Disney figures, playing with dolls. Watched more Power Rangers in one day than I've ever seen before, ever. I miss them already. Mind you, I'm content with being the aunt and not the mom, because at the end of the day, when I'm tired of kids, I can give them back. :)
is
this just not enough…?
