it's time for a post!

Wow. Almost two whole weeks. Really, I'm not trying to avoid you.

New Year's Eve was pretty nice. For once, I didn't have to work it — no First Night. We picked up a couple of bottles of Baja Bob's low carb mixers (strawberry daquiri and margarita) and let me just say: kick ass. We didn't have a blender to speak of so we just used ice cubes. We got, shall we say, a bit tipsy.

Lessee. We had two snowstorms. One hit us Monday the 29th of December, but only really affected the morning drive. Had some more of the white stuff on New Year's Day.

Monday January 5th, however, was another dump, and this time, it was freezing rain and ice type stuff. Driving was Special™ but hey, at least I have those Mad Winter Driving Skillz to fall back on. The weather was pretty ugly. The morning of the 6th found me taking the bus, and having the driver pick me up going in the opposite direction because she was taking it a bit slow and was running about 20 minutes behind. I appreciated not having to wait outside for 20 extra minutes.

The 9th, I had my first dentist's appointment in *mumblemumble*. Not too bad, aside from four (four!!!) new cavities and moderate periodontal disease. I went in yesterday and had my Serious Cleaning done, as well as the drill-n-fill. The cleaning was the most pleasant cleaning experience I've ever had, so yay sonic cleaning tool. I didn't realize drilling would involve injecting lidocaine, which was okay because it gave me only about 5 minutes to panic about the needle. Actually, I did just fine, no freaking out, no tears, just mega-shaky hands while waiting for the numb to set in.

All I could think of was Bill Cosby's famous Dentist Chair sketch. The right side of my chin and lip went numb. My tongue was too, but that was from the topical numbing agent they used to prep me for the shot. I had been scheduled for sealant too, but unfortunately that turned out to not be covered (because oh yes, dental insurance ROCKETH), and at $28 a tooth, that was a bit more than I can afford right now.

We had egg drop soup for dinner last night, and for not having made it in over a year, it came out pretty damn good. I'm doing okay today — loving my shinywhite teeth, and not in pain at all from the drilling (thank goodness). (Now the back and neck, on the other hand…)

Oh yes! I have an interview today for the resumé/application I turned in just before Christmas. They want me for Tech Support. It honestly sounds more like it's already a done deal unless I go in and, you know, insult the interviewer's familial heritage or something. *knocks on wood* They're 'testing' me as well today, probably at my Windows proficiency. I'm hoping to maybe eventually get on the elite Mac support group. (Elite = far fewer Mac techs.)

It's a good thing I have shinywhite teeth and new glasses, and I'm going to wear the nice new outfit that my mom sent me for Christmas.
