end of an era

After much thought and many years of effort, it saddens me to say that tomorrow is the last day the café will be open; today was the last full day of business. It was a lot of work with very little pay; we weren't making fistfuls of money, so it wasn't completely unexpected, but the people are marvelous (customer and co-worker alike) and I'll miss it being there.

I spent today helping around the place, evaluating what to sell the computers for and canceling utilities. Tomorrow we're having a party / wake for all of the regular customers from noon to 5 or 6. I must remember to bring the camera.

Does anyone know of a place one might be able to get a low-cost web hosting (or a domain redirector/alias/whatever it's called) so we park the café domain? Once the DSL goes off, the site will go down (we hosted the site on our server), and I'd like to see it stay up if only to announce we're closed.. :P

Sorry to hear you are closing your business; this sometimes has to happen. Try not to let it get you down. Good for you for taking the chance to succeed. Hope that you have learned a lot and enjoyed all of your time there. Best wishes in all of your future endevors - You'll be back someday!

Happy Holidays!

Sounds like the end of an era for some of us too I guess, at least for me it is. Even so it is a feeling I get since you stopped being working there every day or so from morning to night, telling us in your blog about the café's life. In a way, for me you were a kind of essential element of it, like its heart or soul... perhaps you will reopen it one day...

Thanks. Marian (one of the partners) is hoping to reopen another incarnation in a few years. She misses the cooking and baking already.
