G&S (and other) News...
For up to the minute news, see one of the official sites.
- Urgent 2nd Class is now available, sort of a "how-to" book.
- The new trilogy is now complete... I hope to have the time to get something up for 'em.
- As you might have guessed from reading above, the "big artbook containing, yes you
guessed it, all my art. I'm going to include a load of anecdotes and
stories about the pictures and odd things that have happened to me but
will not degenerate into a life history...I promise" is now available (The Artful Dodger).
- The Museum at Purgatory ("physically a lot more G&S like"), was published
by Harper in September. I have only just acquired a copy and I have to say that the more
I think about it, the more I love it. It is an exceptional book, filled with a thought-provoking
story and amazing art. From the front flap:
"My name is Non, and as Curator of the Museum here at Purgatory I am required by statute to facilitate, without judgment, the progress of all collectors assigned to these halls. It is my responsibility to act as their souls' guardian as well as preserver of their accumulated treasures."
From the back cover:Part narrative, part surreal catalogue, The Museum at Purgatory follows the post-death journey of the mysterious Curator Non. Watching as he gathers together artists and collectors, sifting and analyzing their lives, all in a desperate attempt to break the amnesia that stops him from embarking on his passage to Heaven or Hell.
Once again, Bantock demonstrates his unique gift of combining words and stunning images to craft an extraordinary tale. A story so unlikely that it has the audacity to include the meaning of life within its introduction.
While studying the words and images within this volume, the reader should be reminded that the Museum houses objects whose history is authentic but whose actuality fails to reside in the regular percepts or normality.
- Griffin and Sabine and The Venetian's Wife are now both optioned for movies. Work has already begun
on the former (no details are known by me at this time).
