BWAHAHAHAHA: You. Will. Laugh.

Here's to hoping today is much better than yesterday. After all the crap that happened to me, my friend's car broke down and she hurt her shoulder, seems that yesterday was just no good for anyone.

I love Halloween. Today I came into the cafe dressed in Mongolian garb. I'm wearing a del (think: what Genghis Khan might have worn) that's green and salmon-coloured, my hair's in braids, and I also brought my fuzzy wool and sheepskin hat (but I can't keep it on my head because I'm too damned hot wearing it to make coffee). I've got minimal jewelry on because it just gets in the way. Wish I had a digital camera to take pics.

On a slighly more serious note, today also marks Samhain (pr. SOW-in). It's one of the most (if not THE most) important holiday to people who practice ancient earth religions. Your link for the day, class, is Halloween: Myths, Monsters and Devils. It is excellently written and researched. Go, read and learn! :)

Heh heh heh. The jerk who was in here this morning harrassing me apparently p'ed off the wrong person here in the city building, because he got carted in here by one of the city staff, then lectured at by two policemen. I was talking to a customer about this bozo and she went and got one of the policemen (at my request). After I told him what this guy had done, they led creepazoid off in cuffs. The customer said that what I said 'upped the ante' and led to his arrest.

I'm so high on emotion and adrenaline right now it's not funny. But I feel good about it. No one should have to be made to feel as uncomfortable as I felt this morning.

I hate Mondays. Mondays where I've got a knot between my shoulderblades the size of New Hampshire and a drunk pervert propositons me for a quarter (not that this ever happened before today). *sigh*

The party on Saturday night was fun. I especially liked the thing on the front lawn, the alien-abducting-a-cow scene made up of little alien mannequins and a fabric cow lit up from the inside. Theme was "What's behind Door #2?". I went as the White Rabbit.

This daylight savings thing always messes me up. At least it's light out at the bus stop in the morning again (for a little while longer).

After a household angst-fest, things are much better. It's Friday night, I've had my fill of Cartoon Cartoon Friday, and am kicking back with my blog and a hot toddy. Gettin' in to being late, I've been up since 5:30am, so I better get off to bed, since tomorrow night is a friend's Halloween party.

How pathetic am I that I remembered with little effort that today is Simon Le Bon's 42nd birthday? Hope it was a good one, Charlie. =)

I love the smell of hazelnut.

Continued to be frustrated in my efforts to find my old friend Barb. Why did she have to go and change her name to match a ex-president's wife's? :) Have a lead on her younger sister, but in order to post a Hi to her on the site that I found her, I would have to register to become a member (at $29.95, it would be the single most expensive email I'd ever sent). No thanks.

Feh!

Had to go out yesterday and have words with Mr. Bass. Had the nerve to tell me to say "Please" when asking to turn down music that was so loud and bass-y it rattled the windows of my house. Morons.

Bummed big time about being rejected by the state health insurance plan, Oregon Health Plan (OHP). You know those people they always refer to as slipping between the cracks -- I just fell. Too rich for OHP, too poor to afford private health insurance. This sucks.

sigh

Oh, and if you ever consider riding in the back of an open pickup truck... don't. A friend of a friend just met the pavement at 50 mph and died after the truck he was riding in had to brake suddenly to avoid another vehicle. Sad, tragic loss.

I'm just a bucket of sunshine today, aren't I?

So is it justifiable homicide if I kill the cross-the-street neighbours for blasting Santana's "Smooth" from their car stereo at 3am, and then, to add insult to injury, dance around on the driveway and sidewalk?

Grrrrr.

Maybe voodoo dolls. Or a phone call to their landlord. [evil laughter]

My friends Julie and Martha not only got to see Barenaked Ladies from like the 6th row, but got handed backstage passes to boot! They are officially Scum. (Just kidding, my dears.)

YAWWWWN. When am I not tired?

Came in the morning to find a 'personal' phone message on the answering machine from Ed Asner. *snort* Then the guy who owns the bakery we buy our pastries from comes in with our delivery, talking about his trip to Turkey. Colour me jealous... makes me want to take some kind of exotic vacation.

Time to troll eBay for computers I can't afford :)

Another weird dream -- this time, about climbing up an obsidian-black spiral staircase, trying to collect some books. They go under this turnstyle at the top and then start coming back down (kind of like luggage carousel at the airport). Then I remember sliding down, down, down the staircase with an armful of books. And then someone was betting on me like I was the ball popping around in the roulette wheel.

No wonder I get to the cafe feeling tired. :)

Monday, Monday. Feeling much better today. Guess all that rest will do that for a body. COLD COLD COLD today, and was terribly foggy early, but it's clearing up now. The air this morning was so cold and crisp, though, that it felt good to breathe in deeply.

You know you spend too much time online when you start dreaming of URLs. It was a strange dream, dark and mysterious, and a sense of intrigue pervaded. I had a report about, of all people, Riker from Star Trek, but he was with me, and I couldn't let him see it because it was about how he had done something wrong. Oddly enough the report was entitled "Commander Riker: Sewing"! At the top of each page was this URL, and as I flipped through it I realized it was a novel, not a report, but he still couldn't see it. I tried taking the staples out but realized that it was too thick to put one staple through, so I had to divide it into two parts, staple those, then binderclip the whole thing together. Very, very weird.

The URL, in case you're curious, was coloringmonologues.com. That makes absolutely no sense, and I may have to register it just for sheer surreality factor.

Typical Saturday. Had trouble sleeping last night -- hard to sleep when you can't breathe! But, I am finally starting to feel human again. This is a good thing.

Kinda bored tonight. Perhaps I will play mah jongg...

Rain, rain, rain. It's been raining all morning. Thus begins the soggy season in Oregon. Sigh. Though it has stopped for the moment, temporarily...

I just realized how much I'd like to see a crossover between X-Files and Law and Order. This was prompted by an apparance on the latter by the actor who played the escalating fetishist Donny Faster on the former. I'd love to see Scully have to testify before the DA. I'd love to see Mulder have to work with Briscoe. Hell, they are already in the same universe -- remember the episode that took place 10 years in the past, where Det. Munch (of the now-defunct Homicide) grilled the Lone Gunmen (thereby putting them in the same universe). Then there was the L+O and Homicide crossover -- actually, there were a couple of those. Therefore, by logical deduction, X-Files and L+O must be in the same universe. Elementary, my dear Skinner.

Been scoping out eBay for an iBook (I feel like I'm speaking pig latin!). I really do need a portable, so that I can take my work with me whereever I go. I may have to just go down to the Mac store and get one on a payment plan, because I'm so wary about throwing that kind of money to someone over the net for something I've never seen before buying. Call me crazy... :)

Ugh. I think I've relapsed into this cold. I feel absolutely cruddy today, much worse than yesterday. If I could just get a day to sleep all day long... well, guess what I'll be doing this weekend (well, when I'm not trying to do laundry or any number of things I'm behind on!).

I just learned that a friend of mine got one of those new Mac cubes. [greeeeeen with envy]

Tired. Being sick sucks! Being sick and not getting enough sleep or rest sucks even more. Updating this mostly because I can, and because this is a novelty.

I was going to do some laundry and some other errands, but couldn't because I was recalled into cafe duty. Such is the life of a small business owner. I think tonight I'm going to shoot for being in bed by 9pm. I can dream, can't I? Eh, someone else can do the blasted laundry. ;)

Well, I've succumbed to this blogger thing... have to admit, I'm quite fond of it.

This past weekend was Amergin's Revenge Bardic Competition, which I autocratted (SCA-ese for organized and ran, though certainly not alone). It was a lot of fun, though stressful in lots of ways. My resistance was so low that I picked up a head cold, dutifully passing it along to Andra. Now we're both miserable and feeling icky!

Glad it's Thursday already. I swear I am going to spend my whole weekend belly-up on the couch watching television.

It's Mercury retrograde until November 7th. Back up your computers, don't sign any contracts, and, whatever you do, don't get married! ;)
