sunny and bright

...for now. The weather keeps vacillating... I had to turn the space heater on last night, I was so cold.

Sleepy and unmotivated as I look over my To Do list. I suppose I oughta remove and reinstall some software that suddenly keeps making this computer crash.

Is it Friday yet?

on the 50th anniversary of the discovery of dna

...or more precisely, the discovery of the structure of DNA, let's not forget that a woman chemist's x-ray photography was the key to Watson and Crick's double helix model.

Here's me, slightly annoyed, that the Nobel Committee doesn't award posthumously.

interesting quote

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of man as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

time loop

Every morning the bus comes at 6:33 am. It's nearly always the same driver but for me, with my nose in a book, it's usually the same drive. If I close my eyes, I can almost tell you exactly where we are by the stops and the turns.

I get off of the bus. There is the woman with the walker. In front of me is the red truck that drops off the disaffected teenager who always seems mortified to be dropped off at the bus station by his dad (?). There goes the guy with curly dark hair lighting up a smoke, taking impossibly long, swift, silent strides, crossing the same patch of station at approximately the same time.

I feel like I'm in a time loop five days a week. If not for the changing date on the computer I wouldn't be sure that it wasn't the same day.

Come to think of it, I did have a time loop moment this weekend. Saturday morning, I was playing the radio while I made breakfast. Bruce Springsteen, Roxette, and some other songs, quips by the DJ, and so on. Sunday morning, I was making breakfast again at about the same time... and all of the same songs were on. I started to get a little weirded out until I heard the DJ make the same reference to it being a lovely Saturday morning and making all of the same corny quips at precisely the same intervals. I guess someone put in the wrong tape for Easter Sunday.

neglectful

It seems I'm busybusybusy these days.... Busy weekends, busy afternoons, busy mornings in a different sort of way. I sit down in the evening and my brain just sort of shorts out.

This is my way of saying, sorry I'm not more chatty lately.

stunned

So I'm thinking now that my inability to sleep well had something to do with some kind of psychic knowledge of impending doom, because yesterday, the EMC™ dropped foreclosure papers on me. Yes, the very same one who just a week or two ago contacted me about "discussing options to foreclosure". They're called evil for a reason, you see.

So, I'm not in a happy place right now.

weird

Let's see if this ever shows up.

Blogger says it is posting and publishing but no changes show. What gives??

hm 2

Talking to the domainreg people at the aforementioned company, I learned that the server I'm on here does have php installed.

There will be some looking into. :D

hm

Went to renew this domain name only to discover the company I used to work for (who registered it for me) is still listed as the legal owner.

That probably ought to change.

told ya so

Report done, call to IRS taken care of (was no biggie). Still not sleeping well, for no apparent reason. I hate that. If I'm going to have a lack of sleep, I at least want it to be for a good reason.

It has been alternating between grey and sunny all day. I wish it would make up its mind, because my sinuses are not happy about the vacillation.

made it through

Taxes done, report not quite done yet. Complications in freelance work (as in, they want it done much, MUCH sooner than I thought, and it's physically impossible for me to get it all done by tomorrow). Worst headache of my life on Saturday, and it's threatening to return as we speak. Bleh.

Could be at the prospect of having to actually call and speak with someone at the IRS regarding past year's owed taxes. I'm trying not to flip out about that call, because every time I wring my hands worrying it turns out okay. It could be phone phobia that has more to do with it than anything.

Still have a pretty long to do list, but I'm working on it.

bizarre

The Church sues itself over sex abuse scandal.

Life keeps on ahead. Got word (though apparently not via US Mail) that the bankruptcy discharged mid-March. All that's left to work out are the difficulties with the Evil Mortgage Company™, and past due property tax. I haven't felt this good in a long time! :D I'm enjoying doing good deeds for people and otherwise making their day. It's nice living without the Sword of Damocles hanging over my head.

An is doing sooo well in her job as a supervisor. She was really overwhelmed at first with all of the things she had to learn to do, but has settled in nicely... just in time to lose her co-worker and fellow supervisor (and gain half of the departing supervisor's team (on a temporary basis (we hope))).

(Holy nested parentheses, Batman!)

So, aside from having to do taxes and write a report this weekend, I'm looking forward to the weekend.

uneventful weekend

Unless you call a metric assload of laundry and a trip to the county dump to get rid of stuff that's been makin' the yard look like white trash lives there "exciting", then my weekend was mostly not fun. (Though pitching stuff into the pit at the dump was pretty cathartic.)

I like having cable back... liking the CourtTV forensic shows a whole lot. :D

Still need to do my damn taxes. Can't find the W2 from the café.

People who act like the world owes them a favour suck major ass. (And I'm not referring to anyone who might read here.)

adjusting

I am still adjusting to being back... I'm hungry at all the wrong times and feel surprisingly awake today probably due to the time difference. And ow, the shins, they do still hurt.

Started my freelance work. Not difficult, but monotonous. Am grateful for the work though.

I owe people mail. I'm sorry.

The latest in the EMC™ saga: got a letter from them wishing to discuss alternatives to foreclosure. Gee! So this is me, calling my lawyer, so she can talk to them for me. :)

And tomorrow, first supervisor paycheck for Andra! Hooray!

/b

I had a great week. Lots of relaxation, spent little time on the computer, much less than I thought I would anyway. Vistied friends, family, favourite places; ate good (forbidden!) food (but it was totally worth it!) (Rhonda, I'm sorry you weren't able to get up that way, but talking to you on the phone was fabulous!!)

Today, my shins are aching. From 16 hours of sitting, essentially. Go fig.

So, back to busy-ness. And, oh, yes, as of Friday, we get cable back again. WOO and HOO!
